Wood
Wood for my
American made instruments comes from various sources. Avadore,
Korina, ebony and Wenge from Africa. Myrtle, maple, ash, alder,
domestic tulipwood from the US. Mahogany, pauferro, and certain
rosewoods from South America.

I try to use
as much wood as possible from managed forests. I make regular trips
to lumber suppliers to hand select the wood used for my instruments.
Once the wood
is in my shop, it is sorted by species. It is then stacked and
allowed to dry until it reaches the desired moisture content. After
that it is milled into useable sizes and stacked again to be used
when ready. The shop is maintained year round at a temperature and
humidity range that varies from 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit and
40-45% humidity
